International construction giant Brookfield Multiplex is deep in developing Australia’s largest exclusive hotel residences, The Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel and Residences. Operating under the central laid foundations is the Bastemeyer Group, contracted to undertake the tough application of excavating the international hotel basement.

In excavating this epic high-rise, the Bastemeyer Group has taken on the biggest and deepest earthworks in Surfers Paradise. The innovative construction for the fi rst upscale international hotel to be built on the Gold Coast in over a decade is characterised by its unique method, top-down.

The application enables the superstructure and its basement to be built simultaneously. With the foundations and load bearing elements poured, excavation of the basement occurs through access holes.
